Cast aside what limits you

The human body is finite;
the spirit is boundless.
Before you begin to pray,
cast aside what limits you
and enter into the world of the Infinite.
Turn to God alone
and have no thought of self at all.
Nothing but God will exist for you
when self has ceased to be.

– Dov Baer of Mezhirech

An island exists

For those struggling in midstream,
in great fear of the flood,
of growing old and of dying –
for all those I say, an island exists
where there is no place for impediments,
no place for clinging:
the island of no going beyond.

I call it nirvana,
the complete destruction
of old age and dying.

– Buddha

This whole world is your own

0

I tell you one thing –
If you want peace of mind,
do not find fault with others.

Rather learn to see your own faults.
Learn to make the whole world your own.

No one is a stranger, my child;
this whole world is your own.

– Sri Sarada Devi

Nothing but God

When the mystic’s spiritual eye is opened, his physical eye is closed; he sees nothing but God.

A prayer for peace

Adorable presence,
Thou who art within and without,
above and below and all around,
Thou who art interpenetrating every cell of my being,
Thou who art the eye of my eyes,
the ear of my ears,
the heart of my heart,
the mind of my mind,
the breath of my breath,
the life of my life,
the soul of my soul,
Bless us, dear God, to be aware of thy presence
now and here.

May we all be aware of thy presence
in the East and the West,
in the North and the South.
May peace and good will abide among individuals,
communities, and nations.

The best act of worship

The best act of worship is watchfulness of the moments.
That is, that the servant not look beyond his limit, and not
contemplate anything other than his Lord, and not associate
with anything other than his present moment.

– Abu Bakr Muhammad Al-Wasiti

Not what it used to be

The future ain’t what it used to be.

Happiness comes from the Self

0

True happiness cannot be found in things that change and pass away. Pleasure and pain alternate inexorably. Happiness comes from the Self and can be found in the Self only. Find your real Self and all else will come with it.
